Easy Like Sunday Morning...

Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were observing a fast; and [some people] came and asked Jesus, Why are John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fasting, but Your disciples are not doing so? Mark 2: 18 {The Amplified Bible}

People tried to put their own expectations on Jesus. In Mark 2:18, some people took him to task because His disciples were not fasting. John's disciples were fasting...the disciples of the Pharisees were fasting. You, Jesus, you claim to be a prophet. Well, why aren't Your disciples fasting?! Then again in verse 23-24, the Pharisees chided him because the disciples were plucking ears of corn and eating them.

Jesus was a man of purpose - He knew why God put Him on earth and wasn't sidetracked by meaningless things. He had a laser-focus on destiny and never stopped - even when He felt discouraged.

Like Jesus, we too were created for a purpose - to serve God. Things that were created for us shouldn't become a distraction.

The burden of other people's expectations can be a crushing one. Instead, let us take up His yoke for it is easy...let us shoulder His burden because it is light - Selah

"For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne." Jesus {Matthew 11: 29-30 - The Amplified Bible}
